Lawyer Turin was the prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, which was formed in 2010 to try war crimes. He played a role in handling several important cases, including the case of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Ghulam Azam.
The then Awami League government removed Turin from the post of prosecutor of the tribunal on November 11, 2019, over a secret meeting with Muhammad Wahidul Haque, former Director General (DG) of the National Security Intelligence Service (NSI) and Passport Department, during the ongoing war crimes case against him.
Turin had sought the Awami League’s nomination to contest the 2018 parliamentary elections. After the government was overthrown in a coup in August last year, several cases were filed against him, like many close to the Awami League.
